I seriously have bloggers block. I love reading everyone's blogs...but don't want to post on my own. I don't know what the deal is!!! So now I'm going to sit here and post darn it!!! :o)
Lets see...in baby news...Carter started smiling the other day! YAY!!! Which is good because he is one FIESTY little boy and I had seen more than enough of his grumpy face! :o) I think he's just really really gassy. Poor kid.
I am now breastfeeding both kiddos...I was at the mall by myself in one of the family bathrooms (they have these spiffy rooms with curtains where you can nurse comfortably) and had just finished feeding Caelyn. Carter was starting to wake up and I was feeling uncomfortable because I didn't have my pump with me...so I ditched the bottle that I had for him and tried to get him to feed using the football hold (the one way he would actually latch on...though it meant intense pain for me because he is a BITER). I mean...I wanted to shop some more people...so I decided to take one for the team....the booby team. :o)
He would not latch on and arched his back...screaming. So then I decided to hold him across my body like I do with Caelyn and WHAT DO YOU KNOW....he latch on...and it didn't hurt momma. I was amazed!!! So I've breastfed him ever since! I definitely helped when DH went back to work and I was taking care of the kids around the clock.
AND we moved back into our BEDROOM!!! Oh those first few nights were heavenly. Seriously I hadn't slept a full night in my bedroom for like five months (it was too uncomfortable when I was preggo). The kids are also sleeping in their own beds, which makes for a higher quality of sleep for us when we can get it because we're not hearing every grunt and snort.
Both kids are getting HUGE....last Friday was their last check-up and Caelyn weighed 9lbs 7oz and Carter weighed 9lbs 3oz!!! Only four oz between them!! I couldn't believe it!! We are finally moving out of the newborn clothes and into the 0-3 month ones.
I was so sad putting their clothes away...but I'm saving them for when my sister decides to have a baby...we'll have her covered no matter what she has!!! And there's this very small hope in my mind that maybe...JUST MAYBE...I could concieve naturally...and I'll have another baby who could wear the clothes...but I'm not going to be crushed if that doesn't happen...I've been so blessed already!!!
I've been trying to go out and about with the kiddos as much as possible...we went to visit my sister in PA and checked out the Indian Echo Caverns....the kids were pretty good...only one little cry that echoed throughout the entire cave...we were quick to shove a pacifier into that mouth!! :o)
I am so enjoying motherhood...in a lot of ways it is the same as I imagined it would be....and yet in other ways there is no way I could have ever imagined it until I'd lived it. (The sleep deprivation...the way your heart melts when you see a smile....how content you feel with a baby sleeping on your chest...listening to their little sighs...feeling so helpless when they are hurt and wanting to cry right along with them, while wishing desperately that YOU were the one that was hurt and not them....)
Sometimes I'm so tired...sometimes I just want to run to the grocery store but can't, realizing that both carseats would take up the ENTIRE cart...plus its hardly worth the effort for a gallon of milk! :o) I've visited more drive thrus and seriously should buy some stock in Chik.-Fi.l-A because I've been there so often.
Its even crossed my mind...when I'm up at 2am feeding...that once I've fed and changed the first one....well....if I didn't have the other I could go back to sleep RIGHT THEN....
Isn't that horrible??? But I've thought it....and I know that its just because its 2am...and I'm sleep deprived...and there is no way I would trade either of them for anything...not even 20 more minutes of sleep.
Figured I'd just be honest though...because having twins is tough.
But having twins is amazing too...its so fun to watch them interact with eachother...to notice eachother...to calm the other when he or she is crying. Its really quite an amazing thing to watch...and I look forward to many years of watching their relationship grow...
And that folks...is all I can write for now because I hear someone stirring and I really want to post a couple pictures for you all!!
Have a great three day weekend everyone!!
