Picture post...2 months old!

MIA

I seriously have bloggers block. I love reading everyone's blogs...but don't want to post on my own. I don't know what the deal is!!! So now I'm going to sit here and post darn it!!! :o)

Lets see...in baby news...Carter started smiling the other day! YAY!!! Which is good because he is one FIESTY little boy and I had seen more than enough of his grumpy face! :o) I think he's just really really gassy. Poor kid.

I am now breastfeeding both kiddos...I was at the mall by myself in one of the family bathrooms (they have these spiffy rooms with curtains where you can nurse comfortably) and had just finished feeding Caelyn. Carter was starting to wake up and I was feeling uncomfortable because I didn't have my pump with me...so I ditched the bottle that I had for him and tried to get him to feed using the football hold (the one way he would actually latch on...though it meant intense pain for me because he is a BITER). I mean...I wanted to shop some more people...so I decided to take one for the team....the booby team. :o)

He would not latch on and arched his back...screaming. So then I decided to hold him across my body like I do with Caelyn and WHAT DO YOU KNOW....he latch on...and it didn't hurt momma. I was amazed!!! So I've breastfed him ever since! I definitely helped when DH went back to work and I was taking care of the kids around the clock.

AND we moved back into our BEDROOM!!! Oh those first few nights were heavenly. Seriously I hadn't slept a full night in my bedroom for like five months (it was too uncomfortable when I was preggo). The kids are also sleeping in their own beds, which makes for a higher quality of sleep for us when we can get it because we're not hearing every grunt and snort.

Both kids are getting HUGE....last Friday was their last check-up and Caelyn weighed 9lbs 7oz and Carter weighed 9lbs 3oz!!! Only four oz between them!! I couldn't believe it!! We are finally moving out of the newborn clothes and into the 0-3 month ones.

I was so sad putting their clothes away...but I'm saving them for when my sister decides to have a baby...we'll have her covered no matter what she has!!! And there's this very small hope in my mind that maybe...JUST MAYBE...I could concieve naturally...and I'll have another baby who could wear the clothes...but I'm not going to be crushed if that doesn't happen...I've been so blessed already!!!

I've been trying to go out and about with the kiddos as much as possible...we went to visit my sister in PA and checked out the Indian Echo Caverns....the kids were pretty good...only one little cry that echoed throughout the entire cave...we were quick to shove a pacifier into that mouth!! :o)

I am so enjoying motherhood...in a lot of ways it is the same as I imagined it would be....and yet in other ways there is no way I could have ever imagined it until I'd lived it. (The sleep deprivation...the way your heart melts when you see a smile....how content you feel with a baby sleeping on your chest...listening to their little sighs...feeling so helpless when they are hurt and wanting to cry right along with them, while wishing desperately that YOU were the one that was hurt and not them....)

Sometimes I'm so tired...sometimes I just want to run to the grocery store but can't, realizing that both carseats would take up the ENTIRE cart...plus its hardly worth the effort for a gallon of milk! :o) I've visited more drive thrus and seriously should buy some stock in Chik.-Fi.l-A because I've been there so often.

Its even crossed my mind...when I'm up at 2am feeding...that once I've fed and changed the first one....well....if I didn't have the other I could go back to sleep RIGHT THEN....

Isn't that horrible??? But I've thought it....and I know that its just because its 2am...and I'm sleep deprived...and there is no way I would trade either of them for anything...not even 20 more minutes of sleep.

Figured I'd just be honest though...because having twins is tough.

But having twins is amazing too...its so fun to watch them interact with eachother...to notice eachother...to calm the other when he or she is crying. Its really quite an amazing thing to watch...and I look forward to many years of watching their relationship grow...

And that folks...is all I can write for now because I hear someone stirring and I really want to post a couple pictures for you all!!

Have a great three day weekend everyone!!

Random...

ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! YAY FOR BEING 27!!!
I think the kiddos wanted to give me a gift because they ate at 10:30pm...played until 12:30pm and then SLEPT UNTIL 5:30AM!!!!!!! WHAT???!!!!!!!!
When I woke up I couldn't decide if it was a gift...or torture...because I needed to feed or pump...PRONTO. So I fed Caelyn and pumped out 10oz. Ugh.
We'll have to see if this was a one time thing...or our new routine??!! I would love some more sleep!!!
Quote of the Day:
(spoken by one of my husband's buddies)
"DUDE...I just opened your freezer and I was like "Why do they have all these little bags of ice cream that say 'My Mommy's Milk'??!!"
A little embarrassing.
Not sure why...guess its because my freezer is full of a fluid that came from my body. Just weird. :o)
And I forgot to post this the other day...this was taken the same day as Carter's photo shoot...and this is the only picture I got!!! Poor Caelyn wanted NOTHING to do with it!! I really need to attempt it again though!

Picture Post!

Mother's Day!!!

Caelyn

A little too close Momma!!

He grabbed onto her arm...fell asleep...and STILL wouldn't let go...now matter how hard she wiggled!!

Sleepy smiles...so content...

Looking for shark teeth! We found a bunch! (Well...I only found one...DH found about 30...)

Peek-a-boo!!

Blogger block...

Not that I don't have things to blog about....and I have been trying to read everyone else's blogs...but I just haven't been inspired to post on my own! We have been keeping busy around here...trying to make up reasons to get out of the house!!

Yesterday was a wonderful Mother's Day...lots of tears just like every other year...except this year the tears were ones of thankfulness....joy...love. At church the pastor recognized all the mothers and then before he said a prayer he also said he'd like to say a special prayer for all the women who have the desire to be mothers but haven't had that dream fulfilled yet...that they would find God's peace while they wait. I thought that was so kind of him to do...and my heart broke for any women in the congregation who were going through that...definitely said my own prayer for them as well!

As far as the kiddos go, we still have the joy of having Daddy home to help with feeding. He actually just quit his job and is transitioning to a new job...one that pays a bit more....maybe mommy can stay home now??????!!! We're not quite sure yet. But wouldn't that be nice??

Caelyn is still being breastfed and Carter is a bottle boy...I tried and tried to breastfeed him...but he was just literally KNAWING on me....OUCH...I would get so angry at him (not his fault I know!!!) and would DREAD feeding times...and he just wasn't getting it. So finally I decided...the bottle it is for him! I'm still pumping for him and I feel much MUCH better now...I really think it was the right decision.

As far as momma goes...I'm doing well...showering nearly every day...only one pound away from my pre-pregnancy weight!! Jeans still don't fit though...and no WAY does my body look ANYTHING like it did before...definitely totally shaped different. Guess I'll have to use my birthday money (May 12th!! The big 27!!! AHHH!!) for some new jeans to fit over these hips! But I think its quite a miracle that one can gain 60lbs over a 8 month period and lose 59lbs of it in 7 weeks. And I live on Chik-fil.-A milkshakes, chocolate chip cookies and whole milk!!! :o) (that's why the kids have been gaining a lot too...helps beef up the breastmilk!)

Speaking of the kiddos weights...Carter was 7lbs 1oz last Friday...and Caelyn was 8lbs 1oz. Little chubsters!!!!! They both are the same length...I think Carter is totally going to catch up to his sister in weight soon!!

Started getting some smiles from Caelyn on May 6th...still waiting for some from my little man...he's having a lot more awake periods now though...and is starting to wake up to feed every three hours like his sister (he used to sleep right through...sometimes four to four and a half hours if we weren't careful!) so I'm really curious to see what he weighs next time we go to the pediatrician!!

Caelyn has a herniated belly button...its the weirdest looking thing...like a huge nose on her belly. When she cries it pokes out even further...my pediatrician said it should heal on its own...and I really hope so!! I would hate for my little girl to have to have surgery!!!

Okay...I'm going to post some pictures and then attempt to blow dry my hair. :o)
