Carter photo shoot...

Caelyn was snoozin after she ate so Carter and momma decided to have a photo shoot! He was such a trooper!

Yeah he was done about then :o)
Hubby had to go to work today for training...and Caelyn was SCREAMING all night...so finally at 3am I said "Honey...go sleep somewhere...I'll handle the kids". AHHHH (what was I thinking???!) :o)
I've still been breastfeeding Caelyn and then pumping for Carter. He usually eats about 2.5oz and I pump 5 oz each time after I'm done nursing Caelyn. That way I freeze 2.5 oz every time. Why?? I dunno. So I've decided to try to change it up.
Since 3am I've been nursing Caelyn and then nursing Carter...then I took a break from pumping but that hurt too bad...so now I'm pumping 2oz every other feed to wean my body off it. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!
I was really nervous about nursing Carter because I see how he BITES the bottle nipple...and when I tried to nurse him a couple weeks ago (with the mastitis) he BIT me...ugh...it was too much. Now he's getting the hang of it though thankfully.
We survived the day...but daddy...please hurry home!!!!!

A moment in the life...

Pictured below are the two little ones thirty minutes later...with nice full bellies...yeah I can count on one hand the number of times this has happened and I've been alone...it gets a little stressful...but sometimes you just have to laugh, grab the camera...and then get down to business! :o)

Happy Due Date!!

Wow...can't believe today would have been my kiddos' due date. April 22. When the doctor first told me that was the day I thought..."That's so far away!!!" And yet here I am...already with my kiddos a whole month (a BONUS month!) and I can't decide if it flew by....or went really slow. It definitely feels like forever since I was sitting in that doctors office...since the egg retrieval...since the transfer. That feels like ages ago.

And yet here I am.

A mother to two miracles.

And I couldn't be happier....Thank you God for my answered prayers...and even all the unanswered ones...Your plans for me WERE better than the ones I had for myself...I'm sorry for all the days I questioned and doubted You.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

4 weeks...(un)pregnant....

Yeah...there's no baby in that belly. I'm so self conscious about going out without my babies...because I still look pregnant!!!!!! (Yeah like I get out much...but I'm just saying...) *wink* (btw that's me and my lil sis...we went to visit her with the kiddos yesterday! Their first road trip!)
DH and I went to the grocery store by ourselves the other day and I saw my reflection in the window and I was like "Oh gosh...people are going to think I'm newly pregnant" and hubby said "Yeah..they'll be like "Awww look...they're starting a family""....ha ha...NOT FUNNY. :o)
Its so hard to find something to wear when going out...still in maternity pants...though since I lost the water weight in my legs I can actually fit in the size 12 maternity pants instead of the 14. Little victories. Around the house, I'm like you Katie...baggy pants....and a tank top...can't even imagine trying to squeeze into some work clothes. And I don't want to buy a new wardrobe...because I gotta buy diapers!!!!!!!!! :o)
This summer...a jogging stroller will be purchased...a bathing suit will not.
Enough said.
Four generations of men W's. Awwww...

The sweet little girl.

Both my cuties....(yeah the belly is still useful sometimes...during nursing and carrying two kids it acts as a nice shelf....beautiful.) :o) They are wearing the outfits Daddy bought for them when he found out he was having a little girl and a little boy. They were hanging on the wall in our living room off of two candle sconces for months when I was pregnant...we were so excited! Can't believe they are actually being worn!!

Cabbage leaves...

are my friend.

Those dern clogged ducts...I had two...one probably the size of a golf ball and one like a ping pong ball..in one breast. OW. I was massaging and showering...feeding and pumping....sobbing and groaning. It was not good...I had 3 hours of sleep in a 40 hour stretch....I was going insane. It was so hard to take care of babies....and take time out of what little time I had to sleep to try to get rid of these things!!

Finally yesterday someone told me to try cabbage leaves...just stick 'em in your bra. Well...crazy as it sounded I was desperate...so all last night and most of today I rocked the cabbage leaves...and the biggest clog is GONE!!!!!!!!!! Could it be the cabbage worked??!!! I'm going to say so!! And the ping pong ball sized one seems to be less sensitive....maybe it'll be on the way out with the next feeding!!! HOORAY HOORAY!!!

I was wondering what women did when there was no medication for this type of stuff....like did they just die??!

Cabbage leaves.

Must have been in every nursing mother's garden.

I guarentee it.

:o)

Ahhh...the joys of...

breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding has been going pretty well. I generally feed Caelyn and have DH feed Carter with the milk that I pumped the feeding prior. It has just been easier to have one person in charge of one baby...though I have done tandem feeding a couple of times...

**Side note on the first time I attempted that**
DH had gone out to mow the lawn...twenty minutes prior to feeding time. Both kiddos woke up screaming so momma decided to GIT ER DONE. Top off...bra off...twin nursing pillow...two screaming babies sprawled on the couch. Grab one kid by the armpit...hoist up and latch...grab the other by the armpit...hoist and latch. (Before the hoisting and latching milk is getting EVERYWHERE...by the end of the feeding I was soaked...the pillow was soaked....the kids were soaked....LOL) DH came in from mowing...looked at us and laughed.

I looked at him...pointed to the two milk drunk babies and said "You have two poopy diapers to change mister!!!!" :o)

**End side note**

For the kids nearly three week birthday we decided to take them and my mom out for dinner at Out.back (she's been cooking up a storm for us over here!!) on Sunday. The kids did great...but I was noticing that my left breast was a little sore. By the next feeding I started feeling really crummy...pounding headache...whole breast felt bruised. I got under the covers and shivered. I wondered if I had a fever but decided to sleep instead of checking. That night was horrible...I felt like I was coming down with the flu and I was really worried about what would happen if momma was hugging the toilet for the next couple of days! I got up to get my pump supplies after the 3am feeding and suddenly I felt like I was going to pass out. It just wasn't normal. Thankfully we were headed to the pediatrician later that day (and she's a lactation consultant) so I showed her that my left breast was turning pink and was tender. She said "Oh well you may have a clogged duct...but it would really be serious if you had a fever or felt ill..." I told her I was shaking under the covers and DH piped in about me feeling faint and she could not take out her prescription pad fast enough. We filled the prescription on the way home and took my temperature....yeah it was 101. I just sat there and cried. My mom told me to just pump and go up to bed...so that's what I did for the next two feedings and then DH brought Caelyn to me all the rest of the feedings up until 3am...I didn't change one diaper or burp one baby from 6pm to 3am...and I was in a room by myself so I didn't hear babies grunting or wiggling so I got some high quality sleep....I felt like a new woman after that!! Of course after the 6am feeding this morning I had to let hubby go upstairs and sleep after all he went through yesterday!!!

Hopefully I can work out this little issue and be on the road to recovery soon...because that was NOT fun...having a fever for probably nearly 24 hours....ugh.

Allright...gotta go eat something...and maybe take a quick shower.... :o)

My little sweeties...

Both kiddos are at (or exceeding) their birthweights...Carter weighs 4lbs 14oz and Caelyn is right at her birthweight of 5lbs 15oz. Caelyn looks like she's sleepin' but she was knockin' Carter in the head and he wasn't happy!

Just plain furious!!!

Milk drunk...

Trying to think of a clever new blog title...hmmmm...haven't thought of any winners yet! I'm workin' on it though!
