Pregnant face...

First of all..isn't that the cutest....DH and I went to a newborn care class yesterday at the hospital and they gave us two babies to work with....and they were anatomically correct babies too!!! They even had POOPY diapers that we had to change...though it smelled quite delicious...like Hersheys.

We learned a lot about taking care of our kiddos...we got to bathe our dolls in a tub, and give them a sponge bath. We learned about how when little boys get circumcised you'd better remember the vaseline or his little wound will get stuck to the side of the diaper and it will tear the skin! OUCH. We swaddled and shushed like the best of them yesterday. It was kindof fun...and very informative.

Next weekend we go a multiples class so that should be even more fun...plus I wonder how many people will be there...and who will say "Oh, you guys just have TWO? We have FOUR" Yikes...!

I was reading Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy last night...though I've read it before while not pregnant, I keep meaning to read it while pregnant. I opened to a random chapter...and it happened to be on swelling...she talked about all kinds of swelling...hands, feet etc...but then she talked about pregnant face. She said she knew a girl whos face got more swollen and misshapen and even her nose got wider.

I think I have pregnant face. I mean...I look at my face in pictures...and I just know its gotten bigger...weird. My smile doesn't look quite the same...my nose doesn't look quite the same. Hmmm...hopefully "pregnant face" goes away after you're pregnant!! Well here's a little 28 week pregnant face for you...out in the snow! Why does it have to snow on SATURDAY??!!!!!! What's wrong with Monday....or any other work day :o)
I feel like I look like I'm smuggling something in my sweatshirt... :o) DH said the sweatshirt conceals some of the belly so he had me flip up the sweatshirt in the first shot.

Oh and here's the link for the diaper bag we got....http://http://www.diapers.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?productid=19022&site=CI&cm_mmc=cse-_-nextag-_-diaper_bags-_-SZ-033&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=23-73729551-2 We actually bought it from am.a.zon but I like this website because the pictures are better...and it shows all the colors it can come in. Its a bit smaller than I was expecting...but looks like it can expand to hold lots of stuff. I may try to load it up and see if I really like it. I had my work shower and someone got me another diaper bag that I really like too...but I think that the double one is just going to meet our needs a little better.

I think my baby boy has had the hiccups about five times in the past two days...but its weird because I don't feel my whole belly jumping rhythmically....its more like I feel a kick in one spot rhythmically....is that normal? It just goes on and on...and usually its when I'm trying to sleep! :o) Maybe its just his heinie bouncing off the side or something...I dunno.

If this snow doesn't change things this will be my first full week of school in a while...ugh...two full weeks and then we have president's day! Can I do it??? I'm gonna try! :o)

Diaper Bag...finally

I have been trying so hard to figure out what kind of bag I may need with twins...and so I finally ordered this one today. I figure this way if we ever have to take the kiddos to two separate places it'd be easier to have a bag like this than shove diapers into my purse. :o)

I have never seen this bag in real life...so I'll let you know if I love it after it arrives. But if it seems like it will work I think I'm going to get the kids names or initials stitched onto their personal bags...pink for baby girl...maybe even a few cutesy ribbons on hers. DH will be pleased with the camo bag I'm sure. :o)
Oh and for all you ladies having little girls...check out my friend's etsy site....she made my baby girl a TON of adorable bows...I can't wait to have her show them off!!!
Okay...I feel better putting a "happy" post up for today too...complaining is all well and good...but I have a lot to smile about too!!! :o)

Ton of bricks...

I've heard a couple twin moms refer to the third tri as "hitting them like a ton of bricks".

I now understand what they meant.
I am more tired...more achey...more hormonal...more hungry for sweets...more swollen...more stretched...more irritable...more sleep deprived...more ready to meet these little ones...
than ever before.
I had a major meltdown on Friday morning, as I was leaving for work with unwashed hair, no makeup on...taking the usual seven minutes to put on my shoes....and Dh was trying to comfort me, but I was going to be late for work for the FIFTH time that week (yeah...that's all week)...
DH said, as I headed out the door "Maybe its time we start thinking about putting you on 'bedrest'".
That would be lovely.
And yet we can't afford that...so I figure I'd better at least try to wait until I'm 30 weeks if the doctor is telling me that my body is doing just fine...I'll feel like I really really tried if I stay working until 30 weeks I think. Beyond that...I'm not sure if I can do it.
Plus, I'd rather listen to what my body is telling me and quit while I'm ahead, before the doctor prescribes the bedrest...at least I could possibly quit on my terms...and still do small stuff throughout the day.
I just feel like I'm full of knees and elbows...it just hurts. Baby boy is creeping farther and farther into my rib cage...makes it hard to breathe...and the pain...ow. I can't get comfortable at night...I wake up every two hours at least...which I know will be the story of my life VERY soon...but can't it wait until they get here? I need to conserve my rest now!
Complain Complain Complain.
Sorry.
Today we are going to get the kids mattresses....so we'll be able to finish the nursery pretty much. That will be nice. We are just about all ready for these little ones to make their appearance...of course...they need to cook a little longer though. ;o)
I still can't get over the fact that its nearly February...I'm looking forward to those doctor's appointments! Feels like its been a while since I've seen the little ones...plus I've been hanging out a lot with my friend and her 6 week old baby....it makes me realize how much work I'm in for, yet gets me excited for whats to come!

Ob appointment

I took a trip down memory lane and was checking out some of the early belly shots...here I was at 12 weeks thinking I looked so pregnant...LOL LOL LOL. I just look like the chubby girl that nobody wants to ask if she's preggo because it could go either way!!!

And then here I am now...in all my glory...now THAT'S a pregnant woman!

After seeing the perinatologist...it always amazes me how fast we are in and out of my ob's office!
1. Pee in cup

2. Get weighed

3. Check blood pressure

4. Check cervix

5. Check baby heartbeats on ultrasound

6. Any questions??

Done.

All in a matter of...20 minutes or less. Wow.

Baby girl is still head down...baby boy is technically head down...with his head in her feet and his body arching like a rainbow over my belly button. I wonder if her feet are kicking his poor head into my rib cage!! They say they still have time to move so don't count on a vaginal delivery yet.

Cervix measured 5.21 cm, so that's good...I requested that they measure my belly again and I'm measuring at 32 weeks...so 6 weeks ahead. I just can't seem to catch up to you other gals measuring 10 weeks ahead!!! :o)

I only gained 2lbs in the past two weeks...I was shocked!! My eating habits have remained the same..so I'm not sure what that means...I guess I'm eating just enough for those babies...because I'm sure they've gained nearly half a pound each in that amount of time. I'm kindof happy that I only gained that much...the 8lb and 6lb weight gain in two weeks was a little much for the ego.... :o) But healthy babies are all that really matter...gotta keep tellin' myself that. :o)

I will be purchasing a jogging stroller at a garage sale this summer...and I'd love to get a bike and one of those attatchments where you can let the kiddos ride in their own little wagon or whatever it is. Hubby said if I want he would buy me a treadmill...but I think I'll want an excuse to get out of the house every day!

Next OB appointment is Feb. 4...next peri appointment is Feb. 8....babies are probably coming in....MARCH............

OH MY GOODNESS.

These little piggies...

Should have stayed home.
I had my first run in with pretty swollen feet yesterday...though I've seen some of the other twin gal's blogs and I know I haven't seen anything yet...but I'm used to seeing my ankles...and that was not the case yesterday. I think I overdid it a little bit yesterday...I guess because I go to my OB on Monday and I'm always worried that they're going to tell me "Okay...bedrest for you"...so I'm like "WHAT DO I NEED TO GET DONE RIGHT NOW!!??"
I did actually get a pedi yesterday...and noticed that my feet were slightly swollen then...but I thought maybe the nice massage would work some of the blood out of them. Guess not.
Yesterday I returned some duplicates that we received from our shower...and I bought some onesies and socks...two things my mom mentioned that I may need more of. Now I think they are set! I also ended up getting our diaper changing pad with the extra money. When I went to take the pad off my registry I noticed that a few more items have been purchased...I'm thinking my work shower may be coming up. I don't know why I'm kindof nervous about it...I don't love being the center of attention...well...at work anyways. But it should be fun!
On Friday DH and I went over to my friend Denecia's house (fellow twin mommy! She's one day more preggo than I am...with twin girls!!) for dinner. She is unfortunately on bedrest...but she and the babies are doing well!
So here we both are at 26 weeks! :o)

Our bellies actually measure the same all the way around...and our kiddos have generally been measuring the same as well (they are BIG!!) :o) Hers are both a little over two lbs right now...so I'm guessing mine are about the same...oh boy! That's a lot of baby in there!
Well its raining today...so I'm going to lay low...and try to take a nap today...I am having a lot of trouble sleeping. I just toss and turn and pee all night...I can't get comfortable. Then the kiddos wake me up with some super kicks and some....I don't know how to describe it...like it feels like they are just spinning around in there. Seriously its like an alien invasion. And baby girl's foot made some serious contact with my rib cage this morning...I had my eyes closed (trying to get back to sleep) and my hand on my belly. I felt her foot slide up the side of my belly and WHAM right into the rib cage...my eyes FLEW open..OUCH!!!! Take it easy in there little one...you're only two lbs and packin' that much power...??? Momma is scared. *wink*
While I sit here and ramble on and on I do want to say that I'm praying for you blog gals...it seems like a lot of you are hurting right now...some have some big decisions to make...others are hoping for their miracles...I pray that God will give you the strength to continue on this journey...and that He will make His (TOTALLY AMAZING) plans for you known very soon.

3 hr glucose test...ugh..

Well that was absolutely miserable. Ladies...don't fail the one hour. Its no fun to do the three hour test.

I got up on Friday and couldn't have my usual two eggs, toast, fruit and large glass of milk....so I was feeling VERY lightheaded...hungry....MISERABLE. I drove to my OBs office and got my blood drawn. Easy. Then I had to drink that sugar drink. The first one wasn't so bad so I expected this one to go down easily...didn't realize it had twice as much sugar and literally was like syrup...and syrup on an empty stomach is not fun.

I kept asking what would happen if I vomited it up...because I really thought that's what was going to happen. Then I had to wait a miserable hour to get my blood drawn again. Thankfully by the last two hours my body figured out what to do with the sugar and I sat and chatted with another gal who was getting the test done too. Got my blood drawn two more times and then I was off to Fud.dru.ckers curbside to go and back to work.

Maybe Fu.dds whas not my best choice...but it sure sounded good and I was hungry!!! A little cajun chicken sandwich goes a long way!! :o)

I got a call at around 5pm saying that I PASSED the test! PHEW...bring on the sugar!! :o)

My ob still wants me to take the 1hr test AGAIN at 28 weeks (boo) so I hope I don't fail it by two silly points again...maybe I should just go on the diet that they would put me on if I was diabetic...just so I don't have to do that again!!! (BTW it was my perinatologist's idea to have me take the test early in the first place...and my ob wanted to ignore that advice...(isnt' that nice?)...so my ob is making me take it again when he would have done it origionally. Lovely.)

Gotta do what I gotta do I guess...its all for you kiddos!!!

25 weeks! Picture post...

Welcome to the picture post...be sure to check out the blab post too!!! :o)
Baby boy...my little boxer...
Baby boy...does he have my nose?? :o)

Can you see baby girl's face?? Its in there...poor thing was behind my hip bone...placenta in the way...we just couldn't get a good picture!

I had hubby take pics of my belly with the tape measure...he felt it was only fair that I measure his bicep....very nice honey...very nice. *wink*

That's NOT a stretch mark down at the bottom I promise!!! That's a crease from the jeans I was just wearing!! :o) My belly button is still an innie...probably not for long....and you can see my lovely birth mark...I'm exposing it all ladies...but check that out...44 1/2 inches...nice...

*GASP*...yes I'm giving you a bare belly pic!!! I figure the stretch marks are coming soon...so I'll have to document my smooth skin while it lasts!! :o)

Not so organized crib area...hmmm....still have some work to do!!! Yes that's an E.T. stuffed alien...it was hubby's when he was born because that kid had some HUGE eyes...and they nicknamed him E.T. :o)

Lovely organized closet...thanks MOM!!!! :o) (and hubby!)

My first batch of baby laundry!! Are these really for MY kids???? So surreal...

25 weeks! Blab post...

Here we are at 25 weeks already!! Hard to believe. I'm definitely getting nice and uncomfortable...and those kicks are getting stronger and stronger by the minute!

I decided to do a blab post (full of words!!) and a picture post because I have so much to say....and lots of different pictures. And I didn't feel like fooling around with blogger when it gets so finicky with lots of text and photos.... :o)

I had an appointment with the specialist today. Both kids are measuring right on target...both 1lb 12oz. My cervix is still nice and long....cervix of steel they said today. Hmmm...hope it stays that way for a few more months! Especially since baby girl's head is right on it!

I actually got to meet the head doctor (I don't know if he's actually the "head" doctor...but he's been there the longest and whenever we talk about going to this place we always say his name...I dunno why...) and he was SOOOO nice...I really really liked him.

He was checking around and said "Do you know what you're having?"

I told him "Yes a boy and a girl"

He looked at me and raised his eyebrows........with a really loooong pause....

I started freaking out..."WHAT??? IS SHE A BOY????"

He started to laugh and said he just wanted to give me a little scare!!!

What in the world???!!! :o)

I told him we'd bought way too much pink for him to go around making jokes like that!! But he was so nice and kindhearted I couldn't stay mad at him for long. He said that I was doing exceptionally well for a twin pregnancy and that usually now is when they start to see some problems arise so he was very pleased with my progress. Then he said "I'll see you in four weeks!".

I was a little surprised about that because I thought since my OB sees me every two weeks now he'd want to do the same, but he said that everything looked fine so we could wait that long.

A lot can happen in four weeks! Hopefully everything will stay nice and quiet in there!

When they were scanning the kiddos the gal was digging the sonogram thingy way into my hip to get the girl's pictures....and then digging way into my ribs for the boy's pictures! OWWWW...girlfriend...that is BONE...it ain't going ANYWHERE!! That was not fun....and it was interesting because when we started scanning the boy's head was to the right of my belly button (if you're facing me) and then we scanned the girl and came back to him and his head was on the left!!! I didn't even feel him spin and didn't think he'd have enough room to do that!

Another thing that was fun was I could actually see him punching me in the belly button...and FEEL him punching me at the same time. It was fun to see what was going on ...definitely a little boxer in there!

My parents just left for their side of the country on Tuesday...they had a nice week long stay. Mom definitely spoiled me...so did dad. :o) Mom washed almost all of the clothes I got at the baby shower and put them all away...hubby put in a lovely closet organizer so we could organize what we got at the shower...wow do I feel ready for babies!!! Well...almost...I took a picture of the crib side of the room so that you could see that we definitely aren't there YET!!!

I feel like we're getting all this done WAY early....but at the same time...with the unpredictability of twin pregnancies...I want to try to get as much done as I can while I can!! Plus...nesting is kindof fun! :o)

All this getting done has made me a bit nervous too. My friend just had a baby...she's one month old today actually. And my friend is soooo exhausted and has a hard time going anywhere....and breastfeeding is just a nightmare.

Whenever she talks about baby stuff I think to myself...I'm going to go through all this....times two. And after a month...my mom won't be here...and hubby will go back to work (he works nights)...and I'll be doing this...BY MYSELF....

One me.

Two them.

Hmmmmm....

I'm just getting plain scared. Twin mommies...how did you do it???? Did you have people come and help you throughout those first three months?? I read your blogs and I see that your kids are happy and you're still smiling (and looking quite beautiful and showered and put together I might add!!!)...so it must work....or at least get better as they get older!!!

Allright...I'm going to load some pictures now!! :o)

Baby Shower!

So blogger is being dumb and won't let me move the pictures...so here are the shower pics...and then all my words are down at the bottom...lol... :o) Enjoy!
Can you tell that she is 11 days more preggo than me??? She definitely pokes out more...but you can tell I have two...one on the top bunk...one on the bottom! :o)
Mom and me!

My friend who totally suprised me by coming up for my shower! :o)

Sisters!!!

Yay for the diaper cake!

First of all...Happy New Year everyone!!! :o) When I think back to where I was last year at this time (emotionally....physically...) ....and look at myself this year....I'm absolutely amazed by the change! I could not have imagined the life that I am leading now...I am so thankful that God chose to bless us in this way...at this time in our lives. I am so excited about the future....but enjoy basking in every joy that the present holds!

We had my baby shower on Thursday...WHAT FUN!!! It is still so surreal...I don't think its quite sunk in that those little clothes....those bouncy seats....are for MY children. Unbelievable. We are now washing some of the baby clothes...DH is putting in a closet organizer so that we can put stuff away...wow. WOW.

Here are some pictures of the festivities....I have to say....I've never been to a twin shower...it was quite fun! Plus I've never been to a boy AND a girl shower...that was so different...pink and blue everywhere. The theme was Noah's ark (two by two!) and there were little stuffed animals everywhere in pairs with pink and blue ribbons tied on them. They chose this theme because that was the theme of the puzzles that I gave to both sets of grandparents when I told them I was pregnant. If you look closely you can see the puzzles all put together...we just have to get them framed for the kid's room!
The best thing that my mom did was tell everyone on the invitation that if they brought in a pack of diapers they'd be entered into a raffle. Everyone brought a pack...and lots brought wipes too! We have a whole stack of diapers of all different sizes...I won't have to buy any for a little while!!!
Hubby came to the shower...which was nice because I was absolutely exhausted...after opening gifts for over an hour...its hard having all those people watch you....and smiling and oohing and ahhing...I finally started handing gifts over to him and just relaxed in my glider. :o) Plus I think I'm just getting more and more tired in general. Hope going back to work isn't going to be too hard!
Still haven't gone in for the glucose 3 hr...is that bad? Its just that its the holidays and I'm supposed to go on this three day diet...I have no idea what it entails...but diet doesn't sound fun with all these holidays!!!!!! I think I'm going to take Thursday off and have my two drs appointments and my glucose test. Fun fun. :o) I'll let you all know how that goes!!
P.S....I will tell you the names we picked out...but first we need to settle on my baby girl's middle name....then I'll make the big announcement....or maybe I'll wait til they're born...I can't decide!!! But I will definitely tell you all!!! :o)
